Dyslexia Awareness Week (DAW) 2015 takes place in England, Wales and Northern Ireland from 5-11 October. In Scotland it will be held from 2-8 November
Organised by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA), the theme for the week is ‘Making Sense of Dyslexia’ with its focus on how much of an impact the right support and interventions now can have on the future for people with dyslexia.
One suggestion from the BDA is that supporters use the week to contact their local MP and request the Government look at improving provision for those with dyslexia. You can write your own letter or use two handy templates available on the BDA website.
The BDA has also asked local dyslexia associations, bookshops, libraries, schools and community centres to host ‘Story Time’ sessions that encourage children, families and adults to find books that they like and get involved in reading. Information on scheduled events can be found here.
Free resource packs and posters can be downloaded here.
